About Me

I never planned to be a writer. But God had other plans. When He called me to write, I was a 30-year-old university professor enjoying a career for which I had trained since the age of 15.
But at the age of 30, I began to have an unusual and increasing desire to write. Through a series of miraculous circumstances, God confirmed His calling on my life, and I have never turned back since.
Looking back, I can see His hand on my life from an earliest age. As a child, I would take great delight in listening to my father read to me from the Oxford Book of English Verse. I listened intently, mesmerized by the power of words to create wonderful images in my mind and to take me to faraway places. Later, when a close friend lent me her entire set of the Bobbsey Twins novels, I was hooked. Reading became a passion that remains until this day.
Truth and Freedom are my highest values in life. As John 8: 32 teaches us, only Truth sets us free. Truth is a Person named Jesus Christ. He set me free from the bondages of sin, sickness, and death. As a result, my passion as an author, life coach, and Bible teacher is to help others know the truth so that they, too, can be set free.
I do this best through writing stories. While nonfiction appeals to the intellect, fiction appeals to the heart, and the heart is where true transformation takes place. My stories deal with characters who move from believing a lie to believing the truth. In the process, they are set free from the deception that has kept them bound.
On a personal note, I live with my awesome husband in a quaint small town in New Jersey where neighbors stop to chat while walking their dogs, friends and families gather on wide, wrap-around porches, and the downtown finds kids licking lollipops and old married folks holding hands. My husband and I have two amazing adult daughters, two wonderful sons-in-law, and seven precious grandchildren. In my spare time, I love to paint in acrylics and oils, play the piano and mandolin, and try to whittle down my ever-growing To-Be-Read pile.
A Jersey girl at heart, I love Jersey diners, Jersey tomatoes, and the Jersey shore. You can learn ore about my writing on my website at maryanndiorio.com Meanwhile, I invite you to have fun browsing my Book Shoppe. I've written these books for you, to help you experience the abundant life Jesus Christ died to give us. May you be greatly blessed by the work of my heart and of my hands.
With much love,
MaryAnn
